Dates: June 21 - June 23 - Don’t forget the public boat launch is closed June 21-23 for the Dragon fly festival.

The Wabamun Dragonfly Festival presents a weekend full activities:

  • Friday: WAVES Waterfront beer gardens & entertainment, Community Breakfast at Wabamun School, Lighted boat parade and TransAlta Fireworks.
  • Saturday: Pancake Breakfast at Jubilee Hall, Parade, Car Show, Art Walk, Vendors Market, WAVES Waterfront beer gardens & entertainment, Kids activities, Jazz on the veranda, Library book sale, Firehall BBQ, Museum tours.
  • Sunday: Church at Jubilee Hall, Bowling at Wabamun Lions Bowling Alley.
  • And a ball tournament all weekend!

Facts About Wabamun Lake

  • Wabamun Lake is located 45 minutes West of Edmonton, Alberta, making it the perfect spot for summer beach vacationing or boating.
  • Wabamun Lake is one of the most heavily used lakes in Alberta. It is 19.2 km long and 6.6 km narrow, covering 82 km2 and is 11 meters deep at its deepest, with somewhat clear water.
  • Wabamun Lake has a reputation for the best whitefish lake in the Edmonton area and is well known for its large northern pike. A large variety of migrating, breeding and moulting wildfowl visit the lake. Beaver and muskrat use the lake while the surrounding upland supports coyotes, porcupine, moose and white-tailed deer.
  • Wabamun Lake derives its name from the Cree word for looking glass.
  • Wabamun has all essential services including banks, a grocery store, Home Hardware, vehicle repair services, drugstore, bottle depot, carwash, and a laundromat.

Located on the water's edge in the town of Wabamun, our services can be accessed by land or water.

Driving From Edmonton:

  • Head west on AB-16 towards Jasper
  • After 60 km (40 minutes), take exit 324 towards Wabamun
  • At the stop sign, turn left onto Range Road 40B, and continue onto 50 Street
  • At the four-way stop, cross over the train tracks into the parking lot
  • Turn right into the fenced area and park near to the main building

Arrival by water:

We offer gas to any boaters on the water. Upon a water arrival, pull in towards the launch area and dock next to the tank. When ready, please, ring the bell and an attendant will be right with you.
